This is the first of a few status reports on our 2004 Lighthouse Challenge Tour Drive. I'll post cancellation or postponement information here.
As of today (10/9) the extended forecast calls for a 60% chance of light rain on Saturday 10/16, and partly cloudy on Sunday 10/17 with a 20% chance of precipitation.
Given the accuracy of extended forecasts, I would say this almost guarantees that Saturday will be the better of the two days when, in fact, it arrives. I will keep you posted as the day nears, post the route instructions when I type them up, and perhaps use Gary's e-mail list to put out a final notice. Later...

As predicted, the only constant in long range forecasting is change. In this case, improvement. Weather.com is now calling for partly cloudy on Saturday, Oct 16, with a high of 64 and only a 20% chance of rain. So Saturday looks good as of now. I will have route instructions available at the meeting tomorrow, should anyone want them.

Ahhh, we welcome Gary S. to the exclusive status of "full member" on the board! Actually, I had no idea 30 posts moved you from "junior" to "full" until my status changed. Weather info comes from weather.com. I try not to take advantage of my close relationship with my pal Storm Field Storm just bought a TR8, by the way, which I helped him locate in NH. No change from yesterday, still partly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain. Sunday looks better at this point, but I'm still aiming for Saturday unless a large group states a preferance. I handed out about 6 sets of route instructions last night, which was a pleasant surprise. I think 4-8 cars total would make a fun event.

Okay, folks. I would say this will be the last of the updates. The forecast for Saturday is now partly cloudy, 59 degrees, with a 10% chance of precipitation. It will actually be colder on Sunday with a greater chance of rain, so Saturday will be the Day.
The meeting place is the WaWa in Manchester at the intersection of Rts. 70 and 539. If WaWa is too crowded we'll be at the Exxon across the street. We'll be stopping there to fuel up before we leave, anyway.
There is another contingent who will meet us near where we jump on exit 58 of the GSP. My advice would be to get off the Parkway at exit 58 (no toll) and head north on 539 to the first gas station or convenience store you see, or any convenient parking area. My Tuckerton geography isn't so good that I remember what that might be, but wait there, and maybe call me on my cell phone to let us know where you are. I'll put that in an e-mail to you all later today rather than blab it over the net.
Should be a great day. See you there!
