In the February Newsletter, I printed an article on incorporating a club for protection from liability claims. This thread is intended to promote discussion, both pro and con, on this topic. By now, everyone should know that I'm supportive of the idea. Where do you stand, and why?
Let the debate begin!

Wayne, I think that this needs to be looked into. Nobody wants to get sued, especially when you're just out to have some fun. Let's bring it up at the next meeting. Any idea about how to go about this. Is it a one time thing? Gary S.

The good news is that it is a one time thing, although you have to do certain things to keep a corporation alive. Things like hold meetings, take minutes, publish annual reports, mostly things we already do. There are firms that will do all thepaperwork for as little as $200. Surely there must be a lawyer and an accountant in the club who can serve on a committee. I would think pretty much any CPA would know about incorporation.
I'm working on finding relevent publications now and hope to bring information to the next meeting.

You're right about trying to get a member of the club who is a CPA type to step up and volunteer for this job.
